WHISE 2024 – A Platform for Developing Ho Chi Minh City’s Innovative Startup Ecosystem

On December 17, the Ho Chi Minh City Innovation and Startup Week 2024 (WHISE 2024) officially opened at the 272 Convention Center (District 3, Ho Chi Minh City). The event, directed by the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee and organized by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), featured the theme “Innovation and Startups for Sustainable Development.” It attracted over 184 booths from domestic and international enterprises and organizations.


In her opening remarks, Ms. Trần Thị Diệu Thúy, Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, emphasized: “WHISE 2024 is not only a hub for connecting innovation resources but also a testament to the city’s commitment to becoming a leading innovation center in the region.” She highlighted the role of Resolution No. 98/2023/QH15, which introduces special mechanisms to foster innovation and startups, significantly contributing to the city’s sustainable economic development.


VIoT and VEEP – Key Highlights at WHISE 2024


Within the framework of WHISE 2024, VIoT and VEEP stood out among the participants with pioneering solutions aimed at emission reduction and energy efficiency enhancement.


 • VIoT showcased solutions for reducing emissions in urban and industrial smart cities. The company’s products focus on optimizing energy efficiency and minimizing CO2 emissions, supporting the transition of urban areas toward smart and sustainable models.


• VEEP introduced its Energy Efficiency as a Service (EEaaS) solution, which integrates intelligent physical devices powered by AI with a Building Energy Management System (BeMS). This solution not only reduces operating costs but also contributes to greenhouse gas emission reductions, making it ideal for modern businesses and cities advancing toward a green transition.


The event organizers praised the contributions of VIoT and VEEP: “Innovative solutions from enterprises not only bring tangible benefits but also help shape a sustainable innovation ecosystem in Ho Chi Minh City.”


WHISE 2024 provided an invaluable opportunity for businesses to showcase breakthrough products and technologies and served as a platform for connecting experts, policymakers, and entrepreneurs. This year’s program featured various specialized seminars on artificial intelligence, sustainable development, and startup initiatives in education. Additionally, the announcement of prestigious awards such as I-Star 2024 and the results of the Smart City 2024 competition remained key highlights.


According to a report from Startup Blink, Ho Chi Minh City’s innovation ecosystem ranks 111th out of 1,000 globally and third in Southeast Asia. These figures demonstrate the city’s appeal and potential in fostering innovation and startups.
